It wouldn't be the first time where Morricone's name is "confirmed", and then nothing happens. I'm not sure if a Morricone score for a comedy is something to look forward to, but if it's in the lines of Al cuore si comanda, for example, it would still be worth it!

Hello,
Just a little message to say that the music proposed by Didier on chimai.com in the weekly special from this third opus of the Ranieri's theatre play TV broadcasts is very nice. Specially I enjoyed the main title, very Morriconian, a romantic and sad theme with orchestra and "bass oboe", the same instrument used in Padre Pio ("La casa della sofferenza"). Not the English horn, another instrument he could use more often, as it is very Morriconian.

It seems that finally Massimo Ranieri has decided which one of the two will be the fourth and last comedy.
In a first moment, he had chosen SABATO, DOMENICA E LUNEDI, then NON TI PAGO and now he has changed idea again.
So the last comedy will be SABATO, DOMENICA E LUNEDI starring Monica Guerritore the fourth Ranieri's women after Mariangela Melato, Barbara de Rossi and Donatella Finocchiaro.
In these days, he has started to record the comedy.
Ranieri's doubts didn't trouble Morricone because he was ready to both possibilities. The soundtrack is completed since a long time: no problem.
Broadcasting on spring and the cd...it's still too early to say something for sure also if Morricone says that it will be issued after the broadcasting of the last comedy.

Massimo Ranieri, at the end of February, has finished to record the last comedy SABATO, DOMENICA E LUNEDI.
For the moment, the broadcasting is sheduled for April/May, but after the experience of ULTIMO, L'OCCHIO DEL FALCO... (also if RAI is more serious than MEDIASET).
Let's see if, this time, M. is right regarding the cd. I hope so.

On 1 May, RAIUNO will broadcast the fourth and last comedy "SABATO, DOMENICA E LUNEDI", played and directed by Massimo Ranieri.

Two days ago, Morricone has said that the issuing of the cd (a double one) is under discussion.

He too is really very disappointed from the fact that lately, the cds with his music (to tell the truth not only his) are not issued: ANNA FRANK, GENTE DI MARE:L'ISOLA (see the post 57 GIORNI), ULTIMO, L'OCCHIO DEL FALCO ???...

Also those single compositions as ELEGIA PER L'ITALIA, OSTINATO RICERCARE or the wonderful variation of "Elegy for Brown" lately listened at the concert in Torino and something else that now I don't remember, but with no chance to see the light because just single compositions, would deserve to be issued all on a cd.
We talked about this possibility and nicely he said:"...I am absolutely agree, it would be wonderful, but who pays all this"?

Let's wait and see if the Ranieri's cd will be published. Let's hope so.

Yes, let's hope so. I am not a bit familiar with this movie or its score but a new Morricone score is always a treat.

the important is that, at least, is published the soundtrack of the first comedy: FILUMENA MARTURANO. Among the four, it's the one with more music and for my tastes, the best.

Of course, they are still discussing about the opportunity to issue a cd or better, a double cd. The things are still at the same point as we let them last May. Morricone is more than disappointed for this situation: he is angry, but he can't do anything.
Neither the dvd has been issued.

Massimo Ranieri is thinking about the possibility to repeat the experiment of the theatre in tv with some comedies by Luigi Pirandello. Of course Morricone would compose the music.
Nothing has been decided for the moment: Mauro Mazza, the director of RAIUNO, is the one who wanted to take the "Teatro di Eduardo" in tv and also for Pirandello, he will be the one who will decide for a "yes" or for a "no".
But also admitting that the project will see the light, considering the different steps, the first comedy, to be optimistic, will not broadcasted at the tv until early/mid 2014. But we have got accustomed to the oddities of RAI (see 57 Giorni) so nothing can be excluded.
