Mr. Alberto Negrin informs that the shots of LA MIA AMICA ANNA FRANK came to conclusion. The film has been shot in Budapest. After having watched at some scenes of the new Negrin's film, Morricone declared: " Some scenes very, very touching, deserve to have, as music, something special. In my long career, I seldom was moved like in this occasion...I can vouch for my maximum involvement. A great film: this time Negrin has surpassed himself ".
Morricone started the composition of LA MIA AMICA ANNA FRANK at the beginning of June. The work is almost ready. This because Morricone had already thought of music since some months picturing to himself how some scenes would have been. We can say that he guessed Negrin's thoughts.
The film will have two different versions: one for the cinema and another one for the TV where it will be broadcast on RAIUNO probably on 27 January 2010 for the day of the Holocaust. Cd by RAITRADE.
Morricone has also recorded a new commercial for DOLCE & GABBANA and he is now attending to a composition titled JERUSALEM for a program about RAI orchestra.

You're welcome. It a pleasure for me, when good, to let you know news.
I hope in the future, before they come out, to have something else to say about BAARIA and LA MIA AMICA ANNA FRANK. Maybe that Morricone accepts to compose music for three films more, but lately his relations with all film directors (except Tornatore and Negrin) are...rather strained (he refuses everything: Tarantino is just one of the last numerous examples) and this isn't good for the composition. Maybe good for the concerts (more time at his disposal for this purpose), but not for the compositions. It seems that he has withdrawn completely into himself...

Two new film scores are better than none, which is what we have been getting lately. Thanks for the news!

The recording and mixing of LA MIA AMICA ANNA FRANK ( working or definitive title?? ) came at conclusion last week. January 2010 is the date estimated for the broadcasting of the film on RAIUNO, but there is the possibility that it is broadcasted in advance: end of October 2009.

The film could be out at the cinema, in an extended version, before it is broadcasted the next winter at the TV on RAIUNO (probably end of January, but RAI often changes the dates). Anyhow, there are some unclear problems with the cinematographic distribution home, so we should not be surprised if the film were cancelled for the cinema. At the TV, the film will be broadcasted all in just one evening. Anna Frank is performed by Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.

In the meanwhile, Alberto Negrin is talking with Morricone (today he is in London and monday in Budapest) about his next film titled L'ISOLA (working title). The problem is that this isn't a classic historical film in two evenings. It is a serial stories (6 / 8) like was LA PIOVRA many years ago and the subject ( the activities on the sea of italian coastal guard ) isn't suited to be set to music by Morricone. This would be the first time, after several years, that a Negrin's film has not Morricone's music. For this, Negrin is re writing part of the screenplay to make this new collaboration with Morricone becomes possible.
This for L'ISOLA. But two weeks ago, Negrin has been charged by RAI with another one new film, this time more "classic". No title yet, but surely suited for Morricone.

Good evening.
The ones you see, are just images edited together in somewhat way. This is not the official trailer.
The same thing has happened months ago for BAARIA when a group of images were blended together on U Tube ( you certainly remember it ), but after some days, this sham trailer was removed letting space, after some weeks, to the true trailer.
The music you listen in this short film, probably will not be present in the film ( not all ). It's "working material".
I don't know how someone came into possession of these fragments of music. These fragments have been written for the film - yes it is- but are not the main themes.
In fact, in this short film, the wonderful "love theme" plus two more similar to it, are lacking.
It's amazing, but not too much, that someone can hold some sequences of the film three months before its official broadcasting...but if it happened for BAARIA, it can happen for ANNA FRANK too.

So, we can expect a CD from RAI Trade.
But we want a right, a pure RAI Trade CD ! Not an imitation.
For that purpose, somes rules have to be respected :
1) Duration of not more than 51 mn, or a maximum of 54 mn if there is a repetition (see below)
2) The main or end titles missing is an obligation, without any exception.
3) A lovely and very well done secondary theme has to be not present in the CD, as several other cues.
4) It s better if a track is repeated, or at least duplicated with very few differences (with some instruments removed)
5) The sequencing, apart from the first and the last ones, has to be made by random. It is better if 3 or 4 tracks in the same vein or rhythm are grouped, each one following the other. Anothr soltion is to end with a disturbing track.
6) Some very interesting variants of the main themes (often 2) should be eliminated.

I trust RAI Trade to respect at least 4 of these rules.
