Hi everyone
I might be a little behind the 8th ball. Has everyone checked out the series of clips on youtube titled Cinema in Concert? It seems to be a German orchestra and choir performing, as the title suggests, music from cinema. I can safely say that I have never seen a better version of the Man With the Harmonica. During the discussion over the Adelaide concert mention was made of this piece. Someone I think questioned why it was never performed. I suspect the answer is that Morricone does not want to swamp the programme with his western music. It is a pity really, as this version on youtube gives an indication of grandeur of what having that piece in the programme might be like.
Incidentally, if you check out the clip you'll notice the other pieces in the programme. It includes The Mission. I must say I have not seen this conducted by anyone other than Morricone.
