Good evening.
Very bad news about the issuing of MI RICORDO ANNA FRANK cd.
This morning, for reasons of work, I have had a long telephone call with RAITRADE Milano. I availed myself of the opportunity to ask for news about the issuing of the cd MI RICORDO ANNA FRANK.
This afternoon, I have received two e-mails from RAITRADE Roma:" ...we are sorry to have to tell you that, for the moment, the issuing of the cd isn't expected and we can't say if and when the cd will be out. We will keep you informed about...".
I have preferred not to go deep into the reasons of this non-issuing.

All Morricone's soundtracks which took place against the background of all Negrin's films, have been issued on cd. The couple Negrin-Morricone without any cd? This would be the first time.
Anyhow, this is a very bad news because, if the cd really had not been issued, the wide public should be satisfied with uncomplete fragments of music taken from the dvd which, anyhow, will not see the light, at the best, before 6-7 months.
I have never understood by which one criteria, a label decides to issue or not a cd. Nobody knows it. There are at least one million of possible reasons.
I think that this, since BAARIA, altough bad, is the only one really interesting news, surely more interesting than all those various "definitive editions" issuings. What I think about them is well-known. Somebody lives in the past, someone else lives in the present: matter of tastes...
If a real definitive edition of I PROMESSI SPOSI were be issued with true new music ( not variations of well-known themes ) believe me, I would be the first to get the cd. Maybe that someone will disagree with me preferring to talk about the hidden and rare treasures contained in the last editions of OCEANO or LA TENDA ROSSA... As I have already told: matter of tastes...

Coming back to MI RICORDO ANNA FRANK cd, this is the worst way for Morricone to go out from the scenes because if someone has not yet realized or has pretended not to realize, know that, apart from "last moment" surprises, ANNA FRANK represents the word "end" to Morricone's career as soundtracks composer. The concerts ( few ) and the beloved "definitive editions" will go on, but I am not interested in them.
The time of balances has started. Beautiful or ugly, this is the truth and nobody can change it.

Anyhow, I hope that RAITRADE will find the way to publish the cd so that all Morricone's fans will be able to enjoy this very beautiful soundtrack. If this will not happen, what to say? Someone ( very few ) will enjoy the soundtrack all the same.
I'll keep you informed if there will be news...good or bad.

The cd? It's ready since a long time, but it's still on the moon. Commercial reasons...

Very bad news, and it was not promising to not have already the confirmation of a CD issue at the moment of broacast...
There is one Morricone-Negrin's still not published in CD : ICS; but I was told that only 2 original themes or tracks were made for this TV movie.

For I promessi sposi, I agree with you : the soundtrack is a pure masterpiece, containing a lot of unpublished tracks and many original unreleased themes ! (I have a copy from the TV broadcast).
The ideal would be (of course it will be never the case) a 3 CDs edition : the first with the previous LP/CD, and the others for unedited music. 2 CDs is just the space, not too much to receive the most important tracks I know, and those I guess he composed but not present in the film. Even the atmosphere's tarcks are interesting !
It is the masterpiece by Alessandro Manzoni (very long and complex) and a masterpiece by Morricone too.

I don't know, dear Stefan, if it's a shame for RAITRADE. What I know is that you'll remain without the soundtrack: this is the worst aspect of the thing and will not certainly be L'AVVENTURIERO the cd who will soothe your anger.

A forum, dear Peter, should be made to share news also if they are not good. Ciao.

P.S I notice that this bad news has let some of you ( always the same as usual ) completely indifferent: just as I expected.
More interesting and easier to announce the next "complete edition". Anyhow, I perfectly realize that, without posts announcing these or those "complete edition" issuings, the forum would be the Sahara...
But it's also true that to talk of music, in literal sense, is one of the most difficult thing of the world.
...but thinking well about it, this "let's call it indifference" has no importance and above all, don't change the things.

Interesting proposal is yours. It would be great, but there is no possibility that happens what you say.
RAITRADE wouldn't licence any other label in releasing the cd also if Benedetto XVI himself asked them.
RAITRADE has produced the film, holds the royalties of the music, of the film public broadcasting...
No, RAITRADE's structure is too big, too complicated.
They can afford to decide and to do what they want, how they want, where they want and when they want. Always.

The reasons behind record companies decisions to release or not release soundtracks has long been a msytery to me. unfortunately the decision often is with someone who doesn't understand or appreciate the material they have. There could have been proper released versions of Navajo Joe and Hills Run Red many years ago - now the master tapes are lost. Other complete soundtracks unreleased include Un belissimo Novembre, Arabella and a fair few others.

i haven't heard Anne Frank but if it is in the same league as Baaria it really should be released.
