In these days, Morricone is writing new material for the soundtrack of the film "ULTIMO, L'OCCHIO DEL FALCO", starring Raul Bova and directed by Michele Soavi. This film, in three episodes, is the fourth of the serie "Ultimo" and it will be broadcasted in autumn on CANALE 5. The cd will follow up.

I agree with Mathias - but I am very pleased to hear news of anything Morricone is working on. I have Come un Delfino - however I have listened to this once and it did not do very much for me. Of course I shall listen again as some soundtracks have grown on me - some quite significantly an example being Risoluzione.

I tend to post if anything significantly makes an impact - Baaria did this for me and I wish there was more music. Yes, I have little to write about these days, but there are not as many scores as there used to be, of course. Only re-isues with an extra 1.85 of music. Usually, from the vaults of somewhere in perfect (or near perfect condition). Always vaults. Why can't we find master tapes hidden at the back of somebody's kitchen drawer?

Looking forward to Days of Heaven though. . . . .

Same here. I like "Come un delfino", especially the wonderful first track, but overall it hasn't affected me enough to write about it. Perhaps it will grow on me as well.

Btw, was the score to "Ultimo 3" ever released? If not, perhaps the score for this upcoming film might not get released either. Or perhaps Ultimo 3 and 4 will get a joined release, similar to the release for Ultimo 1 and 2.

Thanks eda! I didn't know it had been released. Is it a good score? Does it introduce new themes, or is it just variations of the themes from Ultimo 1 and 2?

For Peter: The Ultimo 3 score is interesting, but mostly non melodic - apart from the 2 renditions of the beautiful Doppio pensiero. It's mostly drama and action, half new themes, half new variations of know themes.

To complete what Didier asked, I could say it is a good Mafia' score. You will find the melodic theme "Ultimo" in several versions, the sublime "Doppio pensiero" (which is featured in one only track of the opus 1) and very listenable action/suspense tracks as "Tregua subitanea", "Primo agguato", "Ultimo finale", and even "Replica seconda" in a more melodi and instrumental versions than before.
It exists only in an e-store album, to download from sites like this :

"Primo agguato 1" is a duplicated version of the track with the same title, as, I believe "Ultimo Finale 1" for the track with this title. But for around 10 euros, you can download the entire score (I guess it is complete or nearly)

I would have preferred taht Morricone would have more ambitious projetcs, conneted with the cinema, but Ultimo 4 is a good news for those ; like me, love his Mafia' style he creates for this field.
I suppose he will make alone the soundtarc, Andrea being far now, but who know ? Wait and see, as said in English !
